Thursday Play Dates

Our Thursday Waldorf playgroup ended for the summer and has been replaced with Thursday play dates with our boys. So fun.

Crafting with Dinner

So, yesterday I showed you my craft. Today you have the pleasure of the girls' craft. We were having orzo for dinner and the glue was already out and I've always wanted to do a pasta craft...

Cleaning up is way more fun when you're wearing a tutu.

Grown Up Gift Tag

Last weekend I was invited to a very fun lingerie wedding shower for Alex, our part-time nanny. The girls had a blast playing with all the ribbon while I managed to make this gift tag.

When I got out the glue, the girls couldn't contain themselves any longer - more on their craft tomorrow...

Crafty Birds - The Cutest Robots Ever!

The girls have become master robot makers - they want to make robots and take them to Eric's work. As a result, Eric's office is fast becoming a sweet gallery of the girls' developing creativity. The robots we make really go quite well with the robots he makes.
Here are Kira and Nola's cutest robots...

Materials Needed:
Cardboard Boxes
Glue
Tape
Foil
Decorations (we used pipe cleaners, buttons, shiny paper, lolly pop sticks, cupcake papers, and tissue paper)


We tapped the box shut and used the glue to stick the foil to the box. We then taped the rough edges of the foil down because these girls LOVE tape!


Next we decorated the robots to our heart's content.


The girls made the following:
Curly hair (of course) with pipe cleaners and tissue paper
Ears with cupcake papers
Eyes with buttons and shiny paper
Feet with lolly pop sticks

The Curly Birds were so sad that Eric had to work last weekend that they made strawberry cupcakes to cheer him (and them) up. It worked!

Sunday Sundae - Ice Cream Party

We welcomed the coming of summer with a good old-fashioned ice cream social. I never knew how much fun 20 kids under 5 could be. I can't wait to do it again next year!

Nola Spots a Mountain

Nola has the travel bug now. She wakes up and says, “Nola wants to go somewhere.” Here are a few pictures of our ATV driving, mountain spotting, travel loving Nola.

Colorado

Blimey, it has been a long time…that’s what a fabulous weekend in Colorado and back home to a good, old fashioned ice cream social will do to you. Colorado was so very much fun – the most relaxing weekend I can remember. It was filled with wonderful company, fabulous eats, and the most beautiful scenery. Here are a few pictures of our hood wearing, strawberry loving, flower picking Kira.

Crafty Birds - Making a Nest of Birds

The girls made this nest of birds over 2 days - the birds one day and then the nest the next. They spent the next week teaching the birds to fly!

Materials for the birds: balloons, feathers, felt, tissue paper, glitter, Elmer's glue and markers.

Cut tissue paper into little squares. Using Elmer's glue and paint brushes, stick the tissue paper on the balloon.

Sprinkle glitter over the balloon (we didn't add any extra glue - the balloon was sticky enough!)

Glue feathers to the balloon.

Cut big circles out and draw an eye. Cut out large diamond shape for the beak (our original beak and eyes were way too small). Shiney paper works better than felt for the beak.

Glue the eyes and beak on the bird.

Now for the nest...

Materials: Cheerios box, tissue paper, crinkle paper, and Elmer's glue.

Cut the Cheerios box down to 3-4 inches deep. Put the box on the tissue paper and glue the tissue paper onto the box.

Cut 'sticks' out of the leftover box and stick onto the nest. (We only stuck the sticks to the front).

Form a comfy bed with the crinkle paper.

Add birds!
